It will be busy in Bali today - Infinity has just crossed the finish line at 07:45, Seabird is in sight of the line and Australian Maid is expecting to finish at about 0900 hours. Jarokinbah, Piquet and Shahtoosh all expected in this afternoon. Shahtoosh broke a spinnaker pole during  the night, which has slowed her down a little.

Race Update 1 August 2002

The yachts are getting pretty close now, with most expected to arrive in Bali tomorrow, Friday 2 August. Australian Maid regained her lead over Shahtoosh last night and is expecting to be in Bali at approx 09:30 tomorrow. She is about 150 miles out at present.

Solo has been sighted by one of the other yachts but has not had radio contact.

Wrong date and time on this morning's report - sorry

31 July 2002

The fleet had a good day today, averaging about 50 miles since this morning's position report, however the winds are easing again and showers are reported.  Shahtoosh and Australian Maid are still very close, with Shahtoosh just keeping ahead of her rival.  Mango Tango has left Darwin and Coal Miners Dream is planning on leaving tomorrow.

Conditions can only be described as very light - boats that are still sailing are not yet halfway. Shahtoosh is about 370 miles from Darwin and leading Australian Maid by about 9 miles. Blown Away Too is still sailing, but is finding the light conditions less than ideal.

Coal Miners Dream is expected to leave again on Thursday. Mango Tango and Tramontana will be leaving Darwin tomorrow morning.
