Darwin to Bali Rally Introduction

Updated 25/3/2005

The 2004 Darwin to Bali Yacht Rally will start at 1100 Hours on the 23 July  2005 in Darwin Harbour and finish at a buoy east of the entrance to Benoa Harbour on the island of Bali in Indonesia.

After finishing, yachts will be escorted by a guide boat to the Bali International Marina (B.I.M.) where all incoming formalities will done. The B.I.M. has space for up to 50 yachts and will be able to assist with all requirements for visiting yachts.

Note the entry to Bali Harbour is very difficult and as such any yacht that finishes during the hours of darkness will have to wait until daylight to be escorted to the B.I.M.

B.I.M. will assist with all arrival and departure arrangements for yachts. There will be charges on your arrival for the issuing of your Visa on Arrival as your passports will have to taken to the Bali Airport for processing as well as the usual port charges.

The rally should  take 8 to 10 days depending upon the strength of the prevailing winds. In the first part of the rally, winds are influenced by the Australian landmass but after the first 200 miles steady south easterlies can be expected all the way to Bali.

The rally is open to the following yachts; Monohull yachts having a waterline length of not less than 7.3 metres and Multihull yachts with a waterline length of not less than 8.0 metres.

The Entry Fee is $375 AUS and  includes  the Rally Entry Fee, the Sailing Clearance for Indonesian Waters and the Presentation Function in Bali.

There will be a complimentary barbeque for all participants at The Darwin Sailing Club at 1800 on July 16. Updated  information will be given out at a briefing again at the Darwin Sailing Club at 1900 on July 18th in Darwin before you leave. At this briefing the radio scheds will be detailed and details of the finish line will also be given out. Any questions you may have will be answered at this time.
