Information
for yachts arriving in Darwin
|
|
Before
you arrive in Darwin
|
Darwin is free of most Marine Pests such
as Black Striped Mussel, Asian Green Mussel, Asian Bag Mussel and
Aquarium Caulerpa. If you wish to enter a marina in Darwin you must be
inspected before you can enter by a Government appointed Fisheries Inspector or Diver.

Arrival in Darwin
|
Foreign yachts must check with Customs, Tel.
8946 9999 on arrival in Darwin. Visiting yachts and crews can also be registered with the Darwin Sailing
Club office. Temporary club membership is usually made available to visiting skippers and
their crews.

Departure
Preparation
|
It is advisable to arrive in Darwin at least
2 weeks before the events leaves to arrange your Visas, Duty Free
Fuel, Duty Free goods as well as Repairs etc.

Anchorage in Darwin
|
There is an anchorage is
located directly west of the Darwin Sailing Club located at approximately 130° 50' and 12°
25'. The prevailing offshore south east breezes make this a pleasant anchorage but check
the tides and depth before anchoring as the tidal range in Darwin can exceed 7 metres. The anchorage
here is good holding in mud. If you are living aboard please leave your dinghy
directly in front of the club building and leave the beach area to the south free for the rigging
of dinghy yachts as July is the peak of the sailing season in Darwin. Rubbish can be left in
the large bins at the top of the boat ramp.

Accommodation in Darwin

Darwin offers a wide variety of accommodation
that ranges from backpackers hostels to five star hotels. As July is the peak of the
tourist season it is advisable to book in advance through the Northern Territory

Prescription Drugs
|
Skippers who require S4 and S8 drugs to
upgrade their Medical Kits should submit their application form to the
N.T. Department of Health Tel 08 89228888. This permit can take up to
six weeks to process.

| Vaccinations |
In
Indonesia diseases such as Polio, Typhoid, Hepatitis, Tetanus and
Malaria are common. You should consult a doctor for detailed advice on
prevention and avoidance of tropical diseases. Yellow Fever vaccinations are only necessary if you are
going to a Yellow Fever area.

from 0600 to 2100 hours daily, and the marina has a minimum depth of 3.5
metres. Lock dimensions are 6.1 metres wide by 22 metres long, and is
accessible when tidal levels are 4 metres above chart datum. Darwin
Tide ranges from 0 to 8 metres – refer tide charts for further

and OMC outboards. They also service all makes of outboards.

accommodate two vessels to a length of 14 metres. Fresh water for
washing down and tank filling available at piles. Cost $25 per day (24
hours). Water facility only,
$5 per day. Hose deposit $20 - refundable on return to hard stand
