| 2005 Kupang Rally Update | Note: however it is valid as at the end of August 2005. For a www.sailindonesia.net PLEASE READ THIS PAGE BEFORE YOU EMAIL IN YOUR THE RACE ENTRY FORM AND INDONESIAN SAILING PERMIT APPLICATION.
All yachts are required to have a valid Cruising Permit (CAIT) while in Indonesian waters. These permits are obtained by the the organising Committee from the Indonesian Government on behalf of each yacht and will be made available to skippers at your first port in Indonesia. The Cruising Permit for Indonesian waters is for the yacht only and is is valid for a period of three months from date of arrival in Indonesia. The CAIT is for the yacht only and is NOT a visa for either the captain or crew , however it is an Indonesian requirement that ALL crew are listed on the CAIT. If you do arrive in Indonesia with crew on board who are not listed on your CAIT it can lead to delays and extra "expenses" on arrival. 1. Yacht Registration CertificateAll yachts must be registered ships in order to obtain an outbound Australian Customs clearance. A copy of this certificate must accompany the application for the permit. Australian yachts please note registration can be a lengthy business, it can take up to 4 months.2. Indonesian Cruising Permit (CAIT)You MUST plan your intended route through the country including the approximate date you expect to arrive at each major town. These details should then be incorporated in your application. It is not necessary to include small or intermediate islands and small towns. All that is needed is for you to nominate the large islands and towns you wish to visit and the approximate date of arrival. Please note that you MUST list all major towns that you intend to visit, DO NOT include every small place you wish to visit in your itinerary, however you may experience difficulties if you try to enter a major town which was not included on your clearance form. If you require specific information on where to cruise, email the Race Committee and we will be happy to help you. After you clear your first port of arrival in Indonesia you are free to go any place nominated on your CAIT. 3. Crew DetailsYou will need to include with your entry form a scan of EVERY persons passport on the vessel and a "passport style" photograph of the Skipper.
If any of your crew members are doubtful starters send their passport particulars anyway as it is easier to delete their passport details rather than add them later.
Please include the next of kin contact phone number or address on each passport scan. 4 Australian VisasSkippers of yachts not already in Australia should note that non-Australian crew members require a visa to enter Australia. You should check with the nearest Australian Consulate before arriving in Australia. Penalties for non compliance with Australian Immigration laws can be very severe and expensive. 5 Indonesian Visa requirements as from 1 February 2004You will sometimes receive confusing advice regarding Indonesian Visa regulations in you contact Indonesian Consulates other than the office in Darwin as most visitors to Indonesia arrive by air.
