Australian VisasSkippers of foreign vessels yet to arrive in Australia should note that non-Australian crew members will require a visa to enter Australia. You should check with the nearest Australian Consulate before arriving in Australia. Penalties for non compliance with Australian Immigration laws can be very severe. If a non Australian passport holder wishes to return to Australia they may require a re-entry visa. Please check with the nearest Australian Consulate for further details.
Skippers ResponsibilityIf any of your crew will not be leaving Indonesia on your yacht it is your responsibility to ensure those persons have a means of leaving Indonesia. For your own protection ensure that they have an airline ticket out of Indonesia or, if they are joining another yacht , and that they have sufficient funds for this. Please note that it is now an Australian Customs Regulation that your crew list must be final one week before the race.
Australian Customs/Immigration/Quarantine/Port Clearances Customs clearances will be done on your yacht in the marinas or at a place that Customs will arrange if you are not in a marina, Customs will already have your contact details and will call you to arrange a clearance. Random checks of yachts by Customs will be carried out on the water on the Saturday morning before the race start and all crew members reminded that you must not open duty free goods before you leave the Port of Darwin limits. Race Progress InformationAll Race updates and progress reports will be listed on this web site. Documentation and Cruising PermitsYou should have multiple photocopies copies of the ships registration papers, the details pages of all crew members passports, and your crew list upon arrival in Indonesia . Cruising permits will be given to you on your arrival arrival in Indonesia and multiple photocopies of these should be made also.
