2005 DARWIN KUPANG RALLY INTRODUCTION

The 2004 Darwin to Kupang Rally will  start at 1100 Hours on the  July 23rd 2005 in Darwin Harbour and finish at the finish line on the Western end of Kupang Island in Indonesia at S10° 09.5’ E123° 34.3 “ 250 meters South of the Kupang Light as detailed in the chart below.

The race should  take 5 to 7 days depending upon the strength of the prevailing winds. In the first part of the race, winds are influenced by the Australian landmass but after the first 200 miles steady south easterlies can be expected all the way to Kupang.

The race is open to the following yachts; Monohull yachts having a waterline length of not less than 7.3 metres and Multihull yachts with a waterline length of not less than 8.0 metres.

The Entry Fee is $375 AUS and  includes  the Race Entry Fee, the Sailing Clearance for Indonesian Waters, Pre Barbeque Rally in Darwin and the Presentation Function in Kupang.

There will be a complimentary barbeque for all participants at The Darwin Sailing Club at 1800 on July 16. Updated  information will be given out at a briefing again at the Darwin Sailing Club at 1900 on July 18th in Darwin before you leave. At this briefing the radio scheds will be detailed and details of the finish line will also be given out. Any questions you may have will be answered at this time.

ARRIVAL IN KUPANG

After you have crossed the finish line at S. 10° 09.5’ E. 123° 34.3 “ 250 meters South of the Kupang Light (See Chart Below) and anchored your boat, you will be contacted by members of the committee Raymond Lesmana and Dick McCune who will advise you of what you need to do in order to clear in.
